We’ve talked about indie film Easter Bunny, Kill Kill! before on this blog, when it was released on Cruxy a few months ago. Now, blog of all things geeky and strange, Geeks of Doom, has a review:
Easter Bunny, Kill! Kill! is just the kind of gut punch indie horror needs, both for its original and unapologetic story and for its raw execution. Despite its limited budget and limited change of scenery, the film never lets any potential weaknesses slow it down, and charges through its 85-minute running time like a coked-up dusthead whose eaten one too many chocolate bunnies. The hunt is on, and this year it isn’t for dyed eggs, but for those who dare enter the home of little Nicholas.
Then a great bit on why they chose to use Cruxy to distribute their film:
Originally filmed in 2006, Chad Ferrin and producer Trent Haaga attempted to find distribution for their movie again and again, only to be turned down every time. In order to bring his film to the masses, the pair have turned to digital self-distribution through Cruxy.com. Easter Bunny, Kill! Kill! is available exclusively online and can be purchased for only $3.99. Once downloaded, the file is yours to keep. This is a huge file with a very high resolution picture, and features no artifacting or pixelation when watching it. If you’ve ever felt the need to support true independent cinema, now is the time to do it!
Read the full review and then make sure to watch the film yourself.

Cruxy co-founder Nathan Freitas will be speaking at the Business of APIs conference March 17th in New York City. This conference is organized by the fantastic company Mashery, who really understand why APIs are important and have built a business around them.
In this one-day conference, you will learn from companies that have launched API distribution channels – why and how they did it, what they expected the return to be, and how they measure their program’s success. You’ll hear from the people who launched some of the Internet’s most successful partner/developer programs. And you’ll learn how you can launch your own API program rapidly and cost-effectively, with minimal involvement from your internal development and IT teams.
Oh, and for those of you out there who are asking “What the heck is an API?”, here’s a good definition from the Mashery FAQ:
API stands for “Application Programming Interface.” Web applications are generally built with a modular architecture; for instance, the “front end” web server may access “back-end” modules to get data, to modify a record, or to perform a calculation. When these modules are opened to the outside world through an API, third party developers can use of them as building blocks for their own applications. The businesses that open the APIs benefit by creating a cost-effective distribution channel for their unique data and services.
That definition is still pretty geeky, so here’s a video I found on Blip that breaks it down in plain english on a whiteboard: Watch “Whiteboard//Session: What is an API?” on Blip.tv
In other words, APIs put the 2 in “Web 2.0″, but fortunately, they will also outlive that trendy moniker.
